We
get a great many calls
and emails regarding
various charities etc as
do many other players as
well – it is never
possible to say yes to
everyone and it is not a
feel good factor to have
to say NO, but that’s
just what has to happen
when there are so many
requests. We simply
cannot afford to help
out everyone.
That said, we have
managed to help out a
few worthwhile causes
this year and a
Telephone call from a
lady called Joanne
concerning her son Lewis
has really tugged at the
heartstrings.
This has to be the most
rewarding call I have
taken recently and it
was a total pleasure
speaking to Joanne
Edmundson (Lewis's mum)
knowing that we could
help in some small way.
Joanne
informed us that Lewis
was Darts Mad and wanted
to be able to meet some
of the Players he
watches on TV.
Friday 21st
July – at The Belroy
Hotel, 45, Hull Road,
Blackpool from 6pm to
10pm – is a night set
aside especially for
Lewis to fulfil that
wish.
We will
also be running an
auction of various
Darting memorabilia to
raise some important
funds for the Lewis
Edmundson Appeal,
the St Mary's Hospital
at Manchester and for
the Alderhey Childrens
Hospital where the kids
stay in the Ronald
McDonald House while
undergoing treatments
etc. Also monies
perhaps to take Lewis to
other places etc or
wherever he wants to go
to enable him to have as many
happy memories as
possible and with his
brother too.
I am quite sure the
evening will be a
success and that both
Lewis and his brother
Damian will have a great
time.
Special
thanks go to Craig and
Jessica of the Belroy
and for providing a
buffet on the evening.
Paul and Jo Wilson for
providing the Darts
Display Stand/set up
(and cute Smiffy
Tee-shirts!!? To Paul
Weller of Origin Storage
Solutions for providing
the dartboards and
surrounds and of course
to every player that has
agreed to donate or
attend in person to
help/meet Lewis.
We would really
appreciate players (whoever can
make the odd 20 minutes
to pop in have a chat
and maybe play a couple
of games with anyone).
